Float checks for 7 evidence-based patterns as it marks: letter reversals, phonetic spelling, number formation issues, inconsistent output, very literal responses, simplified sentence structure, and extremely short work. No extra steps — it just happens.
Observations, not diagnoses
Float never diagnoses. It flags observations — things like "consistent letter reversals (b/d) observed across 4 pieces of work" — and leaves the professional judgement to you and your SENCO. Each observation shows how many times the pattern has been seen.
Dismiss, monitor, or act
When an observation appears, you can dismiss it, monitor it, or use it to start a conversation with your SENCO. Each observation includes links to the specific pieces of work where the pattern was seen.
Evidence ready for your SENCO
If you do want to refer, the observation gives your SENCO something concrete: a specific pattern, the number of occurrences, the threshold that triggered the flag, and links to the original work. Much stronger than "I think something might be going on" in a corridor conversation.
